β€ 4. THE BASE – fully integrated bending production line
Working with partners, “The Base” was developed – a fully integrated slitting, feeding and bending line that operates automatically from coil to finished product with minimal manual intervention.
1. Automatic (lateral) plate loading
Side loader with multiple heads
The Multi Head Side Loader TD can load up to 4 strips simultaneously in one swift motion when operating in 4-section mode. This means shorter loading times and significantly higher productivity. This is more than 40% faster! Each row of the Multi Head Side Loader TD is equipped with a vacuum injector and an ultrasonic sensor for accurate height measurement of your material. Our user-friendly software lets you choose whether to load one or multiple sheets and guides you to the optimal position.


Fast loader
Say goodbye to manual intervention with our fast loader function. This smart solution automates positioning of the back gauge, eliminates gripper compensation and ensures seamless feeding of narrow 75 mm strips in automatic mode. Increase the feed speed after turning the workpiece, enabling fully automatic mode for profile creation.
2. Automatic flipping unit


The integrated flipping mechanism significantly reduces the number of manual operations performed by the operator at the machine. The system automatically rotates the parts, then the grippers accurately position them for the next bend.
The additional benefits are numerous: machining is faster, safer for operators, more accurate and increases capacity, at a lower cost.
Combined with the integrated sheet feeding system, CIDAN offers a fully automated solution for the bending process. This means that the operator only has to deal with loading a stack of sheets into an infeed unit and removing the finished parts from the machine.
3. Automatic take-out system
After bending, the finished sheet metal profiles are automatically picked up by the machine and transported to the beveled edge buffer, where they can be easily removed.
The complete sheet metal processing unit can be automatically stowed under the beveled edge buffer. This allows orders to be reprocessed – even without full automation.

4. THE BASE
THALMANN, in cooperation with Cidan Machinery, Forstner and NuiT, has developed a fully automated bending line that combines slitting, cutting and bending in one fully integrated unit: THE BASE. The flexible unit requires no manual labor other than feeding the coils to the slitting machine and collecting the set parts for shipment.
The NuiT software (www.nu-it.at) allows customers or planners to order bent parts online. Parts ordered online are produced immediately, without the need for manual labor or administrative operations.
THE BASE allows roofers on the job site:
- Drawing a part on the computer;
- Checking to see if it is possible to put it on The Base;
- view the price;
- see when the part can be delivered;
- ordering the part;
- Received the confirmation and invoice; and
- take delivery of the part at the construction site.
