Modular tool geometry

Flexibility for different profile shapes.

The three available tool shapes offer optimized fold clearance and greater flexibility:
The standard tool is a straight top beam tool with a flat tilt angle of only 35°. This tool shape enables profile production with an aspect ratio of 3:4 (height to depth) – for example, 40 mm high and 60 mm deep.

Extendable handling table

Easy loading and handling of long or multiple sheets at a time.

Thanks to the extendable handling table, both very long and multiple sheets can be loaded, bent and removed simultaneously by one operator. The handling of sheet metal parts is easier and the entire production process faster. Direct cost savings over traditional folding machines are often over 50%, especially when combined with the integrated loading and flipping device. Combined with stoppers and grippers, the positioning of the sheets is fully automated, which significantly improves the reproducibility and accuracy of the folded parts. In addition, the bending process becomes safer for the operator.

Grab fingers & double grab fingers

For efficient positioning and handling of various formats.

For folding short sheet metal parts, TC models can be equipped with additional grippers. You can expand any single gripper into a double gripper. In addition, you can place a fully automatically activated, spring-loaded finger on the left, right or both sides of the double gripper.

Automatic taper gripper function

For simultaneous production of tapered profiles.

With the automated taper gripper function, you can quickly and easily produce multiple tapered sheet profiles at the same time, which fit together seamlessly. This gives architects, roofers and engineers the freedom to develop new profile geometries and significantly expand design possibilities for facades.

Multi-section grippers

Process multiple plates simultaneously for maximum output.

By bending multiple sheets simultaneously within one bending cycle, you significantly increase efficiency and process flexibility. Thalmann machines can be custom equipped with fully automated multi-part grippers that allow one operator to handle and process multiple parts simultaneously. For example, one operator can bend two 2 x 3 meter sheets simultaneously on a 6.4 meter Thalmann TD bending machine.

Hydraulic drive

High speed and short cycle times with low energy consumption.

The low-maintenance, high-performance hydraulic units deliver powerful drive, high folding speeds, short folding cycles and consistent folding results. With the powerful PRO hydraulic unit, the machines achieve exceptionally high forces, freeing up to 25% more capacity. Two powerful pump motors drive the unit, combined with a dual valve block injection system and two powerful oil coolers for optimum performance and reliability.

Dynamic bombering

Always exactly the same angle over the entire workpiece thanks to the crowning system.

A dynamic, automatic crowning system for the upper beam guarantees uniform angles along the entire length of the folded sections. This innovation completely eliminates the undesirable effect of over-bending at the ends of the profile (the “banana effect”).

Vertical Force Drive (VFD)

For optimum clamping force

The vertical force drive (VFD), exclusive to Thalmann machines, ensures evenly distributed and very high clamping force. The mechanical zero-point locking system clamps the sheets firmly and presses the folds evenly.
The unique design of the rigid C-frame combined with the vertically positioned clamping bar is the basis for this unique technology, which cannot be found in bending machines anywhere else in the world.
Thalmann’s vertical force drive (VFD) distributes all force evenly along the entire length of the sheet to be bent. Dit system exerts all forces vertically on the sheet metal, providing optimal support for the bending process. This design principle ensures that the available bending force is efficiently utilized without significant loss.

Dynamic Folding Technology

For smooth typesetting

The simultaneous movement of multiple machine axes enables faster folding processes without loss of precision. DFT creates the conditions for high productivity, increased capacity and a smooth folding process.The technology of simultaneous movements minimizes downtimes in a bending cycle.
